Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it's expected for questions to be asked about his position following a further convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the club's poorest run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got a lot of support from management,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to turn it around and get a victory obviously but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I accept my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Response

The manager highlighted recurring failings from his team in their European defeat, namely poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a spell of this nature with performances like these.”

He finished, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we'll continue to battle.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, show everyone again what this club is about and why it's known as the best team in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and it must improve.”
