It's difficult for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the record chasers, are all that remain for a squad that has achieved everything.

It needed as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It is hard for their batsmen to maintain a record if never given the possibility.

In the end, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her debut and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Many contend the case for the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this knock was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it's been a challenging time because it seemed I've had no rhythm completely," said Healy.

"But once you take the field, your fighting spirit activate and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and after that the batsman was on her way.

"The possibility to go out there and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself that way, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was removed her side needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if we do, we are confident we can achieve it."

That comment will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this tournament should hear.

In recent days a feeling they will win from any position has become more firm - this triumph following success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she later said she wished she had played with the discomfort.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have delayed thoughts of retirement, this tournament is anticipated as her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is yet to win a global event as captain.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
