NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage features text commentary of the weekend matchups on multiple platforms, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Also, audio coverage is available on select stations covering another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).

We're in the sixth week in the football calendar and after recent discussion about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both surrendered their unbeaten records.

Striking in those games were the amount of infractions each committed. The Eagles did so in key moments so they kind of beat themselves after leading by two touchdowns going into the fourth period against the Denver Broncos, set to play in London this weekend.

However it proved good to observe how Denver quarterback Bo Nix managed to overcome that deficit before lead three successful possessions on three possessions in the fourth quarter, to win the victory 21-17.

Denver have the defensive player of the year with CB Pat Surtain II. They rank number one in goal-line defense, while Philadelphia lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos prevailed in that contest.

They executed effective strategies in terms of simulated pressure. They weren't always rushing extra pass rushers but they could plug two LBs in the interior before drop them out and send a nickel off the edge.

At the start in the campaign, we said on a program how the Broncos could be the current year's dark horses. They finished the previous year well and did a good job in continuing that momentum.

Are the Denver Broncos this season's dark horses?

New TE their tight end has stepped up big and new RB their rusher is a player they believe in. He's currently fifth in the NFL in ground gains (over 400) as well as tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

I love that the coach Sean Payton displays "RUN IT!" prominently of his playcall sheet.

This demonstrates how the Broncos are a squad that wants to prioritize the run, since one can do a lot based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush while maintains in positive situations.

This has helped QB Bo Nix, who entered into the league as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, passing for 29 TDs – just behind Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).

Other elite QBs have powerful arms to throw all over, but they don't move the mobility as Nix. He boasts incredible passing ability, which is different, and he is so athletic.

His assets are his movement, being able to pass on the run, as well as using different arm angles to deliver the pass as he moves out of the pocket, on rollouts. He can throw that layered pass over the middle and over the corner.

As a rookie QB, aged 25, he displays a lot of composure under pressure and is not really fazed by extra rushers. He tries to avoid a sack whenever possible and is able pass under pressure. He possesses a high football IQ and is quick to decide.

If you consistently rush it eats up the clock and forces the opponent to be on the field extended periods, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defence must cover the field vertically side to side. This proves draining.

The quarterback has bitten back with the coach during games sometimes and it seems the coach likes that attitude, that he's such a competitor. I think it's exciting for the coach to have a young quarterback that is kind of like moldable clay. The coach can really develop him the way he wants to build it. I believe it's a special experience for him.

The head coach owns a championship and has surpassed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He's seen everything. In my opinion the success Denver are having on offence is largely down to his guidance, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the pairing with Nix helps make him into who he is.

You wouldn't want a more qualified person guiding you, to help you through difficult moments and boost confidence.

I have faith in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. But are they strong enough to face an elite team at full strength? Since that wasn't championship-level play from Philadelphia in their last game.

Right now, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're performing above average, that's a good place to be in the AFC West. All they need to do is maintain this path.

They're really good at leaning into their forte, that is the ground game, and that's exactly what they must do against the Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.

New York have allowed 140 rushing yards each contest (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team yet to win any game.

Ever since the league began tracking turnovers decades ago, this team are the first team to go without any turnovers through five games, this is kind of shocking considering that the head coach was previously a defensive coach with another team.

Patrick Mahomes stated the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' after a recent loss by the Jaguars.

Following the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a smooth-ish schedule until their break (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans plus the Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Looking at their division, Kansas City hold a losing record and the Broncos are tied with the Chargers on 3-2 so they could make a run for the top of the West.

It depends on what version of the Chiefs they face because Denver {beat|def
